Pramac Pi1700 Inverter Generator

I got this portable generator for my mother a couple weeks ago. She lives in a rural area out in the country. Power comes and goes all day. She does business online, so having the power go on and off all day does not help. She already has a portable generator that powers her whole house when the power goes out. She asked me about a portable generator that is quiet enough to keep near or in her office. I told her about the pramac pi1700 portable generator. It has a noise level of 59dba. She found the sound level great. She keeps the generator inside her well ventilated office. This quiet portable generator runs about 3.5 hours on a full tank. Not that her power stays off for that long, but its definetly more than enough for that just in case moment. 1 tank is is about a gallon worth of regular gas. Maximum power is rated at 1650watts and continuous power is rated at 1350watts. Good enough for her computer and office equipment. She finds this quiet portable generator a perfect addition to her office. Its extremely quiet. She often forgets its in her office at times!

It doesn’t get better than this! I spoke about purchasing this generator in my last post. I sold the Pramac 2800 on ebay and purchased the 4300 from Peak Power Tools. I’m almost tempted to buy one or two 4300 model for my job sites! Its basically the same Subaru Robin engine. Except this one is making a little bit more HP 6.0HP - 9.0HP. Its SLIGHTLY louder, but still nowhere near a powerhouse generator. It went from 68dbms to 52dbms. It still quiet enough NOT to wake up my wife.

I did a quick test run at the house and hooked up everything while my wife and kids were at work. When the finally got home, I didn’t tell them about the generator powering the house. So I let them do what they do best and rank up that power, haha. I placed the generator outside near the porch entrance. Nobody asked about a loud noise or how come the power is flickering on or off, everything went smoothly. 2-3 desktops being powered, couple lights on and a TV were being powered by this portable generator. Ill probably end up purchasing another quiet portable generator for my job sites.

I told a friend about it and did not believe that the portable generator is as quiet as a refrigerator. So I invited him to my house and spent a couple of hours playing PlayStation. After we were done playing, he ask me about the portable generator I rave about so much. Then I told him the TV and PlayStation were being powered by it. Our TV set is located near the same patio door area where I placed the generator the last time. I opened up the door and showed it to him and he was in shock how quiet it was. He leads a team of framers and hes been looking for a good generator to power his crew. So later that night, he calls me when he gets home and told me he ordered 3 of them! I asked him why 3?! Then he replied, one for himself, one for his crew and one as a present for his father in law.

Quiet Portable Generators - Best of the best

Super Quiet Portable Generator

Super Quiet Portable Generator

Welcome and thank you for visiting my site. In my line of work, I’m constantly using generators for my operations. Construction\contractor is my deal and been in the field for a while. Whether to use a portable generator for back up purposes or get some extra power, Ive dealt with a lot of portable generators. One complaint I get a lot, is that these portable generators can be very noisy. Especially framing a house in a neighborhood. I don’t blame them, try reading a good book with a 8000watt Briggs & Stratton portable generator next door at full blast. Not cool. So I eventually went on and went on a quest to find a really good quiet portable generators. On this site, I’m going to review my favorite quiet portable generators. Keep in mind that a range of 60-67 db portable generators are pretty quiet, sounds like a car parked idling. A range from 55-60 is super quiet. These portable generators sound like a refrigerator start up.

If you ever been through a hurricane you’ll never forget the sound of a neighborhood filled with generators. sounds like the drag strip staging area. Well lets get down to the good stuff. I personally have a portable generators for home and recreational use. The Pramac Pi2800 inverter portable generator is my choice for home use. With a noise rating at 58db, it makes it one of the quietestportable generators out there. I can turn this portable generator on while my wife and sleeping and not even wake her. Shes a light sleeper mind you. This generator is a bit different than your typical engine based portable generators. The engine rotates several small coils of wire in a circumference of very strong magnets. Each full rotation of the engine produces over 300 overlapping sine waves of AC power thus outputting far more electrical energy. Its perfect for powering my sensitive equipment like my computer. Has a fuel capacity of 2.9 gallons. On a 50% load, you’ll get about seven and half hours of operation. My only issue , is the wattage. 2800 watts for the model I own. If you have no kids, its perfect. Last year during hurricane season, we had a strong storm that knocked down an oak tree onto some power lines causing us to have no power for half the day. My kids needed to do research online and my wife pretty much works on the computer. So we were somewhat limited. Either way, I’m looking into getting the Pramac Pi4300 inverter generator, same manufacturer, more watts. If are interesting in doing more research on the portable generators I mentioned in my blog, you can click here. Check it out.
